Sometimes the stance can make or break the look. I think it is integral for the correct muscle car era. Come on, show us yours!

The only decent shot I've got right now--hope to change that soon though.

Stance is important to get it right if you are going for the original height on a 1970 Chevelle SS. The back was always lower than the front <<GRAEMLIN_URL>>/biggthumpup.gif

Lets not froget about my Mopar, The 1970 Challenger had one of the lowest stances in stock original form for a factory muscle car.

The stance is absolutely vital, whether it be the stock stance or the modified look - one inch in the wrong direction can make it or break it, IMHO.

I don't see it as being lower Dan.The rocker looks horizontal to the ground. If you make a print of your pic and draw a line through the centres of the wheels and the bottom of the rocker, you will find the lines are parallel.I think if you measure the front of the rocker and compare it to the back, they will be very close.
I always remember back in 70 that when my LS6 was loaded for the track that the back went down.2 slicks on steel wheels with a tool box and a 24 of "50" was too much for stock springs.:)

Ken my car is about 3/4" lower in the back. If you take a close look at that photo you can clearly see the shadow line sitting on each tire is much lower on the back then the front. Thats how the 70 Chevelle came from the factory.

3 L78s & L79.
Sorry for poor pics. They are 30 years old.The grey L78 had 4.56 gears so I used a truck 78 series tire to cut the gear down on the street. The gold L78 had stock suspension and the green one had tired suspension;).
I know the black L79 looks goofy.I told the spring shop I wanted the body over the the rear tires to clear an 11.50 slick. It had 4.88s so again the tall tire cut the gear down.My dad said the car looked like a frog that landed on a hot rock.lol.I wacked a lot of big blocks with that car.
Ya.I was a crazy kid.:)

Here's my old Pro Street car. I sold this one to a guy in California in `05, and I saw where it went to another new owner in Mississippi last summer.

As big of a PITA as this car was....I kinda miss it.

Here it is going to Mississippi.

Since someone mentioned pickup trucks I'll just leave this here:

http://i1016.photobucket.com/albums/af284/lmseymore/Red%20Truck/RedTruck08Nov09002.jpg

Followed this one down the assembly line as it was being built and drove it to the shipping building myself.

Lowered it with about 1500 miles on it; it's been a daily driver for almost 27 years and just shy of 200k miles.

I posted a few pages back the L72 1968 SS427 Impala I had back in 1973. That stance was a little high in the rear whereas my 67 "Canadian Gold" SS 427 that I sold two years ago sat a tad bit lower in the rear versus the front, even with the F41 suspension. God, I loved this car too. What a pleasure cruising at 80 with 390+ horses up front, a T400 in the middle and factory 2:73 gears bringing up the rear....... Have a great Easter my fellow muscle car comrades.

Juan:

Very cool. Especially the one next to Dick Landy's car.

Noticed the front appears a bit lower on your car in pic one vs pic 3. That is one thing I always envied about the mopars. You want to change the front height a bit, just turn the old torsion bar adjusters. Was also very convenient back when I did alignment work in the 70's to get the trim height perfect from side to side.

Wow, one of the best threads yet. So many great ones, I can't pick a favorite.

Although, of the last few pages, El Hemi and those two 67/68 Impala SS427's are just killer, but as stated, there are just so many great looking ones it's hard to narrow down favorites.

Sam, actually both of them were "then". The non Fenton slots was probably a week after I bought it, so that's factory stance. The fenton slots/L60 Goodyears was about 1974. That's Delco pleasure lift with extensions stance.

Yea, of course I bleed Chevy Orange, but my DD is a Crown Vic Police Interceptor. It has a unique stance due to the beefed up suspension along with everything else it boasts. Beside, my wife calls me Moses when I drive it because traffic parts like the Red Sea in the #3 lane on any interstate!

It's an '06 out of Auburn Ala. Smooth as glass with 97000 on it. Tight, solid and fast. With the 3:55 gears it was about done at 127 one night on rt 295 here in Jersey.

Here's my battle cruiser. Reprogrammed the computer to eliminate the speed limiter, firmed up the shift points, added stainless steel longtube headers, no cats, and 2 1/2" exhaust, Hotchkis LCA's and sway bars. I'm planning to swap the 2:56 gears to a 3:73 POSI setup soon, but she really pulls on the highway.

Scott county sherriffs dept runs crown vics yet. Motors stand up, trannys tend to leave. They've picked up a few Chevy SUV police packages. Work better in the snow.

I picked up a Crown Vic DD with only 55K on the clock for $2500US, and I noticed it did not shift right with the A/C on. Went ahead and changed out the fluid and filter twice, and it seemed just okay until 130K when third and fourth started slipping to where it needed to have some diagnostics and replacement therapy. Since I am neither a blue oval or trans guy, it only came out to where it functions. Wish I cared more, especially after the plastic intake failed. Luckily they sell entire kits with alloy manifolds for only $130US...
