"STP" (Super Track Pack) is a performance axle behind a performance engine for '69-'71 Mopars and describes a 4.10 Dana 60 axle behind a 4 speed. "TP" (Track Pack) is a 3.54 Dana 60 behind a 4 speed.

I went to the Auctions America auction in Auburn IN on Labor Day Weekend with my dad. Her are a few photos from there.

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2015/09/full-18308-31963-dscn1173.jpg

This 62 Bel Air was a radio delete car with a date code correct QB block. There was no mention of if being a documented original 409/409 car so all I know for sure is that it was an original V8 Bel Air sport coupe. It was bid to $78K.

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2015/09/full-18308-31964-dscn1219.jpg

This 66 Chevy II SS was a freshly restored car with very few miles on it since it was restored. It was advertised as having it's original sheet metal and engine and was certified as an original L79 car by Jerry M. It was bid to $100K.

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2015/09/full-18308-31969-dscn1188.jpg

This 69 Chevelle SS was advertised as a recent barn find that had just undergone a complete frame off restoration. According to the build sheet it was shipped to Roller Chevrolet in Monterey CA. The consignor said it had it's original engine and M21 transmission. He was going on and on about how correct the car was, but that black thermostat housing really stood out. It was also certified by Jerry M. as an original Monaco Orange L78 car. It was bid to $72.5K.

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2015/09/full-18308-31972-dscn1211.jpg

This 70 Hemi Challenger R/T was a 4 speed car with a STP 4.10 rear that was sold new at Al-Jo Dodge in Emmaus PA. It was documented with a build sheet and was certified by G.G. According to the fender tag the Shaker hood isn't original to the car. Speaking of the fender tag, any ideas as to what happened to it? This car was bid to $150K.

The Essenhaus in Middlebury IN had their final cruise in of the year this past Thursday and there were over 1,300 cars in attendance. Here are a couple of cars I took photos of.

I've posted photos of this 64 GTO before. It's Alamo Beige with a Saddle interior and is an original tri-power car.

This 70 Superbird is a V code Six Pack car with a TorqueFlite that was purchased new by the owners father at D.L. Miller in Mishawaka IN. It was in storage for 30 years and has just over 30K miles on it. It is an original drivetrain car that was recently restored.

Bryant Goldstone's 2015 Drag Week runner up 73 Javelin was on hand. He averaged a 6.95 @ 208 for the week with a best pass of 6.78 @ 210 at Indianapolis Raceway Park on the second day. He made a six second pass on 4 of the 5 days. This car always attracts a crowd.

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2015/09/full-18308-32390-dscn1236.jpg

I'm not a big fan of exotics, but this brand new Lamborghini Huracan was also attracting quite a crowd. It has a V10 producing 610 horse power that is backed by a 7 speed transmission. I believe it is AWD as well.

The outdoor show season has finally arrived here in the Midwest. Yesterday I went to the Auctions America Auction in Auburn which featured an AACA car show. There wasn't much in the auction, but there were some neat cars in the AACA show. Here are some that I photographed.

Here is D. Yoder's latest restoration. This 67 Chevelle SS L78 has it's original drivetrain and is Nantucket Blue with a bright blue bench seat interior. It was sold new at R.D. Banks Chevrolet in Warren OH. The is the third 67 L78 Chevelle that he has restored. The other two were featured in Hemmings Muscle Machines. The Butternut Yellow one was just featured recently and his Granada Gold one was featured several years ago. In my opinion this was the best musclecar at the show.

I appreciate the pre-war iron as well. A question: That Nantucket Blue 67 L78 Chevelle (top of this page), is it not supposed to have an idler pulley on the RH side (only on L78 cars)?

As an aside, I maintained a collection that had 2 Auburn 1929 8-90 roadsters, so I am very familiar with these cars and thier Lycoming 8's with their big brass carburetors.

I know the 66 Chevelles with the L78 had an idler pulley on the RH side, but I don't believe the 67's did. I don't know of any unrestored 67 L78 Chevelles, but I just looked at photos I have of 4 other documented 67 L78 Chevelles that are restored and non of them have idler pulleys either.

I was at Mecum in Indy last Friday and Saturday and will post some photos from there when I have a chance. On Sunday I went up to the Super Chevy Show at Martin MI. There weren't very many cars there on Sunday. Here are a few I took photos of.

S. McGhee's 68 Z/28 is a recently completed car that was my favorite one at the show. This is an original drivetrain car that was purchased new at Don Leitow Chevrolet in Bridgman MI. It was ordered with an M21 and 4.10 gears, but no console or gauge package. It was documented with a POP and dealer paperwork. The original owner was in Vietnam when the car arrived at the dealer, so his mother took pictures of the car and the engine compartment and sent them to him. Copies of those pictures were on display with the car. It was raced by the second owner, but he kept everything he took off of the car and those parts were used in the restoration.

D. Cox's beautiful 57 Bel Air was in the Gold Class. It had a 283 with the Power Pack option backed by a Powerglide.

S. Williams' 65 Malibu SS was my favorite drag car at the event. This car is packing 500+ci and puts out over 1,300 horsepower. Running through the mufflers with a stock rear suspension and 9" slicks it has gone 8.10's @ 160+. This was the first time he had it out this year and with a restrictor plate to tame it down and gain consistency it was running 8.50's. This was one sweet sounding car that provided some nice wheels up launches.

I went up to the FAST and Factory Stock race at Martin MI last Saturday. A lot of the cars in the Factory Stock class are also at the Pure Stock Drags in Stanton in September. However, here the 11.50 rule for cars without a roll bar was not in affect so a few of the faster cars like the L88 Corvettes, Hemis and the Simpson's ZL-1 powered COPO were running low ll's.

Here is T. Taccone's 70 Z/28 from NY. This is an original Cortez Silver Z/28 with an automatic transmission. He was running in the 13.20's.

R. Mahoney brought his 68 Super Bee from PA. This is a factory Hemi car with a TorqueFlite and it was running 11.00's and 11.10's. I talked to him for a little bit. He will be unveiling a 68 RA Firebird convertible and the 8th 69 Trans Am convertible at MCACN this year. The 68 was just completed and the 69 is being restored by S. Tiemann as we speak.

Dan and Ryan,

I was there all day Saturday walking through the pits and watching the racing. I talked to a bunch of people. Were you guys just there spectating or were you there with a car?

I was at Mecum Indy all day Friday and Saturday, but by the time I found Mike's GS's they had already gone through the auction and I never saw anyone around them. I saw Charlie a couple of times but he was busy talking with others when I saw him and I didn't want to bother him.

I'll be at MCACN on Saturday and Sunday so I'll have to try to find you guys there. Will either of you have a car there?

Great pics as usual. It's amazing to see the ETs vary so much between what you would think would be similarly quick cars. I guess it goes to the driver and to the tuning of the vehicle. Thanks for posting them.

I went to a cruise-in in Middlebury IN on Thursday night. Here are two recently completed cars that I haven't posted photos of before.

This 69 Chevelle SS is a two owner car with a build sheet and other documentation. It has all original sheet metal and has just over 100 miles on it since being completed. It has a cloth and vinyl bench seat interior. The original engine was gone so the owner installed a destroked 454. He said it has a 427 crank and other internals so I think that would make it a 434. It has solid lifters and a complete 3" stainless exhaust with stock tail pipes. It also has an M21 with I believe 3.73 rear gears. It sounded pretty healthy when he left. There was a for sale sign on it, but no price.

This 66 Chevy II SS has an LS-1. I could do without the rear spoiler, but other than that it was a very nice looking car.

On Friday night Goshen IN had their annual cruise. Goshen used to be a big time cruising city until the 80's when it was outlawed. Now as part of First Fridays in July they have a cruise among other things. Main Street is 5 blocks long and it was packed with cars and people all night long.

I caught this sweet 66 Caprice cooling down in a lot just off Main Street. It has a small block with TPI. I liked the Chevelle SS louvers grafted into the hood.

http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/pics/usergals/2016/07/full-18308-45705-dscn2965.jpg

This Drag Week regular was out cruising. This 68 Nova has a 400ci small block with EFI and twin turbos. It has run in the 8.40's at over 160 with 25 pounds of boost on race gas. When he drives it on the street he runs it on pump gas with 7 pounds of boost. He lives just down the street from me and occasionally I can hear him out exercising it.

I went to the Goodguys event in Columbus OH last weekend. There were only a couple of nice stock muscle cars there. There were lots of pro touring type cars.

Here are a couple of photos of my favorite car at the event, M. Rupp's 69 Yenko Chevelle that was restored by the Supercar Workshop several years ago. As far as I know this is still the only known Daytona Yellow Yenko Chevelle. It still looks great!

Mike,

I've been taking pictures of cars for over 20 years so they didn't always look like this. I'm currently using a Nikon Coolpix P600. I have the Image Quality set at Normal and the Image Size at 16m. For shooting indoors I have the Exposure Compensation set at +.7 and the flash set at Slow sync. I also have the image stabilization on to reduce the effects of camera shake since I'm not using a tripod. The only problem is any movement in the background looks blurry due to the slow shutter speed. I'm glad you enjoyed the pictures. I'll post more when I have some time.

In reference to the Hemicuda billboard question: a lot of owners/restorers install the billboards on the cars after the fact but it is extremely rare to find a 1971 Hemicuda that had them installed at the factory and has the paperwork/fendertag to prove it.

The Firebirds and Trans Ams blew me away this year, particularly the red '73 Trans Am with a sunroof and the white '74 Trans Am SD with the vinyl top and two-tone interior. Amazing!

I remember seeing another '74 Trans Am SD with a vinyl top featured as part of a collection in Muscle Car Review in 1984 or 1985. The car, as I recall, was red with a white vinyl top and honeycombs. It was also a hood decal delete car. I've not seen any photos of it since.

Great photos!

Do you have access to PAINT? Very easy to resize photos and also convert them from large files like PNG to much smaller JPEG files. Best size for this site is 1280x900.

You have a very good eye for composition and lighting Myron. Be a crying shame not to see your photos.

This Emerald Turquoise L79 67 Nova SS is 1 of 6 built. It was sold new at Crawley Chevrolet in Shelby NC to James Robbs. This car was found and restored by Jack Duer and won Gold at MCACN in '09 and '11. I believe this is the only 67 L79 Nova with it's original engine and it also has it's original POP. This car was built the first week of June and is equipped with a Saginaw 4 speed like the other known 67 L79 Nova's. It also has a FQ open 12 bolt with 3.07 gears which is also the rear shown on the POP's of 2 other 67 L79 Nova's. According to some sources this rear was only available on the L79 Nova's. This car was featured in the March '10 issue of Muscle Car Enthusiast. It was bid to $170K.

Sorry for the confusion, Don is Gene's son who confirmed the car being a bench seat car. He traded the Z in on a new 1969 Impala Custom, then in late 1970 traded the Impala in at Reedman Chevy in Langhorne PA for a Autumn Gold LS6,automatic car that he drag raced in S/S from day one under the name Tasmanian Devil.

Pretty sure Tasmanian Devil is still around.

From a few pages back, but still may be of interest to some.

Some observations:

-- I think the 1968 Firebird page may be wonky. I need to cross-reference RAII numbers because I thought the total was 108 with an unknown number of ragtops?

-- 5 of the 4-speed RAIV GTO ragtops were Judges, so the number 59 is really 54 GTOs and 5 Judges, with 45 being 4-speeds and 5 of those being Judges. No Judge ragtops were built with the RAIV M40.

-- Convertible Judge RAIV numbers for 1970 have never been properly defined.

I found several sites that show 68 Firebird RA II production as 110. They didn't list convertible production, but I did find several references to 8 being built. I'm not sure where that number originated from.

I found several sites that show 70 GTO RA IV convertible production as 24 with 4 speeds and 13 with automatics for a total of 37. I found several articles referencing 17 Judges and 20 GTO's being built. Again I'm not sure where that breakdown came from.

Some of these production numbers I've seen so many times in writing that I just took them as fact. The different production breakdowns that I found online match the above posted sheets.

No, you're right, it should be 110. I'm getting old and my memory isn't what it used to be.

The 1970 Judge RAIV ragtop stuff has been published several times but the truth is that they've been estimates. In more recent years, I've even seen the stick/auto balance flipped. What IS true is the 24 and 13 for both GTO and Judges.
